Layer 0 — How we think

The principles behind every system we build

“Technology must be reliable, practical, and grounded in reality. Not optimized for demos or decks — optimized for the conditions it will actually operate in.”

Every architectural decision in Alpi-M reflects a set of first-order beliefs about how AI systems should be built for industrial production. We call this Layer 0 — not a feature, not a methodology, but the ground-level assumptions that determine whether a system will still work in two years under real conditions.

Layer 0 cannot be patched in later. It is either present from the first design decision, or it is not. Below are the core principles.

Core principles

I

Data never leaves the premises

Not as a compliance feature. As a design constraint. DSGVO-compliant by architecture means no cloud dependency, no external inference, no telemetry. The system is built to run fully offline because that is the only way to guarantee this property permanently.

II

Validated before deployed

Industrial AI that has not been validated against your specific data and edge hardware under your specific operating conditions is not ready for production. Period. Validation is not a checkbox — it is the gating condition for every Alpi-M deployment.

III

The 30% human factor

No AI system runs at full effectiveness without the humans who maintain it, interpret its outputs, and know when to override it. System design that ignores this 30% will fail in practice, regardless of benchmark results. Building for the human factor is not a soft requirement — it is the hardest engineering constraint.

IV

Handover is the final deliverable

A system you cannot operate without us is not a delivered system — it is a dependency. Every AlpiType engagement ends with full source code, documentation, and the knowledge transfer your team needs to run and extend the system independently.

V

Latency is a hard constraint, not a preference

Industrial real-time requirements mean <50ms or the system is not fit for purpose. This constraint eliminates cloud inference entirely and drives the hardware selection, model architecture, and runtime configuration of every deployment.

AI Anthropology — Anton Lytvynenko
Why 30% Human is the most critical part of any AI system

These principles are developed in full in Anton’s book Anthropologie eines KI-Systems (AI Anthropology). The book examines the architectural and human factors that determine whether industrial AI systems survive contact with production reality — and why most don’t. Three chapters are available free.
