Context

Rail and industrial-automation group, urban rail networks. Fleet managers have to respond quickly to faults while keeping track of large volumes of data from daily operations.

Problem

Train performance data existed but not as actionable information: faults were recognised too late, and decisions on route planning and emergency operations were taken without a clear overview of the operational status.

What we built

A near-real-time cloud solution that continuously collects and analyses train performance data, generates actionable alerts from fault indicators and provides a clear overview of operational status — designed for large data volumes.

Key engineering decision

Alerts from fault indicators instead of raw-data dashboards — and processing designed for large data volumes from the start. Fleet managers see events they can act on, not curves; the architecture copes with the data volume of an entire network.
